Welcome...and initial guidelines...

This blog will be used in the spring of 2008 by 80+ students at Drexel University to investigate the effects of Iraq on culture and the reverse. Our goal will be to better understand why the US is in Iraq, and to question whether literature can help us on this journey.

Weekly plans and other materials will always be posted in Vista, not this blog. So go to Bb Vista to get the discussion prompts and other instructions.

I intend this blog to manage our discussions and track our collective investigation.

You should have received an email from me inviting you to become a contributor to this blog. The email was sent Monday afternoon to your official Drexel email address.

Big Nose

There are many myths about Jewish people, and since I am Jewish I've heard most of them. In my opinion, one of the biggest myths about Jewish people is the size of their nose. I here on a daily basis someone saying "Jewish people have big noses," or "He/she is definitely Jewish, look at that nose." Not all Jewish people have big noses, actually quite a lot of them don't. I know people in other cultures whose noses are much bigger. Also another myth about Jewish people, is the amount of money they have. It is thought that since your Jewish, you have money, and lots of it, therefore you are able to spend a lot and afford nicer things. This is a misconception. I know a lot of families who are Jewish and do not have tons of money. They are of average wealth and part of the Middle Class.
